Overview

Made from 100% Recycled Plastic

The Chicken Barn is made from recycled plastic and will hold a maximum of 8 large fowl or 17 bantams. It has 3 removable wooden perches. The door is designed so that it won't trap dirt in the door slots, and it can be easily opened and closed, either manually or with a Chicken guard auto-opener. Access to inspect the birds can be gained via a full width back door which detaches using quick release pins. When the door is removed, there is no 'lip' on the floor edge. This, and the fact that the roof removes in seconds as well, makes regular cleaning a breeze.

Access to the nesting box is quick and easy - just remove 2 quick release pins and lift off the lid. The Nest Box has roll-away nest box inserts to help keep the eggs clean. The outside wall of the nest box can be quickly and easily removed for cleaning by undoing 3 quick release pins. If required, the entire nest box can be detached from the Barn by removing 4 quick release pins.

The Barn has 2 adjustable circular vents and permanent under-eave ventilation. Even though the walls are made from black plastic, the house remains surprisingly cool, even in strong, direct summer sunlight.Being plastic, the houses require no maintenance. There are few crevices for pests (such as red mite) to hide in, and the house can be thoroughly cleaned very easily - in seconds if you have a pressure washer. And it will dry out very quickly, too.

Even though the Barn is quite large, it can still be readily moved by two people. If you need to dismantle your hen house for any reason, perhaps because you are moving house for example, you can easily do so and then rebuild it just as easily. Your hen house will not be damaged by this process.

Capacity

Coop suitable for 8 large chickens or 18 bantams

Poultry Club of Great Britain Guidelines indicate that this house is suitable for a maximum of eight large fowl or eighteen bantams.

Soil Association Guidelines which require a little more space per bird, suggest that this house is ideal for up to 7 larger birds or 16 bantams. Both of these guidelines can be followed, and it is always recommended to provide your birds with a little more extra space, if possible.

Alternative Colours

The Chicken House Medium is available in Green, Blue or Yellow, and the colour is UV protected to prevent fading. This colour applies to the roof and the nest box lid only - all other plastic parts are black. The door is aluminium (unpainted).
