Little Owl Box with Camera
This Little Owl Box is constructed from exterior grade 12mm bonded plywood.
Please note: To offer a more environmentally friendly product, our Little Owl Boxes are no longer treated with resin. The colour of the product you will receive is significantly lighter than the one pictured.

Handmade in our own workshops to RSPB specifications, it is designed to provide an attractive nesting site and includes a hinged roof for quick inspection/ maintenance, vented floor and a back plate for easy installation.
The Little Owl Box will arrive complete with pre-installed colour camera connected to your selected cable length making it very easy for you to set up to your TV. Optional PC/MAC connectivity and other accessories are available at the checkout stage.
Little Owl Nesting
Little Owls do not build their own nests. They depend on the availability of a pre-existing cavity for breeding and usually breed in tree hollows, farm buildings and nest boxes. Egg laying usually starts from mid April, but can be as late as early May, and the average clutch size is 3 - 4 eggs per breeding attempt. Eggs are laid on alternate days and full incubation begins after the last egg has been laid. The female incubates her eggs for 29 ? 31 days and the nestlings are brooded for 28 days before branching, which is when they first leave their nest site. The parents continue to feed and teach their fledglings to fend for themselves until late summer, which is when they leave their parent?s territory to find their own. They are able to breed in the following spring.

The Camera
This CCD Ultra High Resolution 700 TVL (TV Line) Camera has been designed specifically for use with Gardenature camera nest boxes and bird feeder camera kits. This colour bird box camera has a light sensor that switches the x10 infrared night vision LEDs on/off supplementing loss of natural light levels with an invisible IR (infrared). This bird box camera produces high resolution colour images in full light of day and sharp black and white images in low or even no light levels. The camera also houses a highly sensitive microphone so you can hear as well as see what's going on. This high tech spy camera has a 3.6mm lens which produces a 92 degree viewing angle. The lens will have been pre-focused to the correct position but it can very easily be adjusted to suit alternative applications.
The Rest of the System
A professional x3 core cable (Audio/Video/12vDC) is already connected to the camera in the roof of the nest box, the other end of the cable needs to be routed into your property. The cable plugs are black, yellow and white. The black is for mains power and connects to the (supplied)12V DC power adaptor / plug. The remaining RCA yellow (video) and white (audio) connectors can either plug into a spare AV/AUX socket on your TV, / DVD recorder, or a spare TV scart input using the (supplied) scart adaptor. Switch on at the mains plug, then select the appropriate AV channel on your TV, sit back and wait for the show to start! All very easy but if you need any help we are just a phone call away.
