1WQ Summer and Winter Bat Roost
A sophisticated bat box designed for the safe hibernation of bats in winter as well as for roosting, forming colonies and
raising their young during summer. It has an attractive design and is easy and convenient to install on the wall of a
building. The integrated insulation in combination with the well known advantages of Schwegler Woodcrete are ideal for
the year-round needs of bat species which inhabit buildings. This new summer and winter bat box uses the same patented Schwegler "double wall
system" as the 1FW Hibernation Box, which has been tested and proven for decades and used in many professional and scientific
projects in forests all over Europe. The overall design and combination of several well-insulating materials in a layer
structure ensures outstanding insulation properties but still guarantees sufficient air-convection and permeability.
The extremely durable material will last for many decades providing shelter for the bats. The insulation not only protects
the bats in winter but also prevents overheating during summer. This box is self-cleaning and therefore maintenance-free.
Occupants: Typical building-inhabiting bat species like Pipistrelle, Serotine Bat or Parti-coloured Bat, etc. In areas with
existing bat-colonies also Noctules or Bechstein´s bat

Using the four screws and plugs provided, the Bat Roost can easily be attached to most types of external brick, timber or

fixed to timber we recommend that the gaps between the wall and the box are sealed with silicone to prevent moisture
Bat Roost Installation height: Position 3 metres or higher above ground in a place where there is clear flight path for bats
entering and leaving the bat roost.
