This attractive mini mammal house has been manufactured for the National Trust. It is ideally used for dormice but can also offer a snug home for other small mammals such as harvest mice, or even Bees!.
The dormouse nesting box has been beautifully made into an attractive half round shape from solid timber, a recycled plastic inner skin and decorative wooden log outer provides great insulation and an apex roof offers a good shelter keeping the dormice cozy and dry.
The round entrance hole is positioned at the rear of the dormouse box and needs to be covered during inspection to prevent the dormouse escaping when the hinged inspection door is opened by removing the wingnut. In normal use the rear entrance hole should be left uncovered for dormice to enter between the tree and the box.
NOTE: Dormice are a protected species and inspection should only be carried out by a licensed handler if dormouse occupation is suspected.
