Peregrine Falcon numbers on the rise!

Posted 15 Mar 2018

The latest population estimate shows that the breeding numbers of Peregrine Falcon in the UK have hit a historic high.
Results from the 2014 Peregrine Survey were analysed and estimated the breeding population at 1,769 pairs, 22% larger than found in the previous survey in 2002. This is largely thanks to population increases in lowland areas where many Peregrines are now breeding on man-made structures. Whilst the estimate for England has almost doubled since 2002, numbers fell in Scotland. Trends vary between regions but those in upland areas showed the greatest declines.
